Say hello to Robert, our latest recruit! Robert joined SVRVIVE Studios as an intern and Unreal ninja in January, and now he’s our Level Designer. For the last couple of months Robert has been designing traps, levels and movement systems for our upcoming game “Kartong – Death by Cardboard!”. Before joining our studio, Robert studied Game Design at Futuregames in Stockholm.
When designing environments in VR, Robert’s main goal is creating a diverse and engaging level. “I want to create experiences that are truly enjoyable for the players. If we as developers get tired of the game – we’re doing things very wrong” he explains. Robert has been making own levels since the age of 10, “I started with levels for Doom, a favorite of mine, and later on continued with Quake 2, Quake 3 and Counter-Strike”.
Back in the days, Robert worked as a photographer (specialized in architecture, landscape and retouch) and he’s also a musician and studied music production after High School. His fast mind and hands makes him hard to beat in Overwatch, and the daily table tennis tournament.
For some downtime Robert likes to challenge his friends on pinball, especially Iron Man. Also he’s the lunch manager at the studio, making sure we find tasty options and of course – pea soup and punch on Thursdays.
